Elmer Eugene Yeomans (May 17, 1902-July 29, 1983) was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy on June 9, 1920, and advanced through the ranks to rear admiral on July 1, 1951. He commanded the U.S. Naval Forces Japan, from January 1961 to September 1962, and then the Twelfth Naval District from October 1962 until his retirement in June 1964.
